Setting
From Stargate Worlds Wiki
Stargate Worlds is an MMORPG currently under development by Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment in association with the film and television media company MGM. The game is designed to allow players to interact in an online universe, based in the Stargate universe. It is being published by the newly formed company FireSky.
One notable feature of the game is that it will be completely canonical, adhering and contributing to the back story of Stargate SG-1. On January 4, 2008, a TV ad and trailer for Stargate Worlds was released.
As of 2009, Cheyenne Mountain Entertainment informed the public that Stargate Worlds will be on hold until further funds are aquired; in order to finish the game. On December the 8th, information on Stargate Resistance was unleashed. This Third Person Shooter is set to get those last bits of funding, in order to move forward.
As of Feb 10th 2010, Stargate Resistance will launch. Consistant updates and patches will follow shortly afterwards.
[edit] Prelude
Stargate Worlds will be based on the popular science fiction show Stargate SG-1. Original plans were to run the game in synch with the TV show, but these changed with the show's cancellation in 2006 (although at least three direct-to-DVD films are being made to continue the storyline). The game will be set during an earlier period of the timeline, largely between seasons 8 and 9 of Stargate SG-1. This time period is close to the end of Atlantis' first season and prior to first contact with the Ori.
Initially the game will be set within the Milky Way galaxy.
[edit] SGU:
The SGC: with the defeat of the replicators and the Goa'uld, there is a movement to close down Stargate Command. Without Woolsey¹s knowledge or consent, Hammond has begun an alliance of the Free Jaffa, the Asgard and the remnants of the SGC, called the Stargate Union. The Free Jaffa are beginning their work prepping for elections and the creation of a government. The Asgard have begun secretly trying last-ditch efforts to stave off their inevitable death and also determine whether the humans are truly ready to become the fifth race.[1]
Notes :
- General Jack O'Neill has been reported AWOL.
- The Asgard haven't commited mass suicide, yet.
[edit] Praxis:
The Praxis is made up of The New Mind Goa'uld, the Loyalist Jaffa and Op-Core. The New Mind Goa'uld : Children of Queen Anat, have begun to plan for their return to galactic power. The Loyalist Jaffa join them as a military arm, but are not slaves. The Op-Core are freed from imprisonment from within the Castle and warned of an impending threat from the future. Op-Core have joined the Praxis because they promise to support them, in order to defeat the threat from the future.[2]
Notes :
- Not all the Goa'uld are dead, most are in hiding.
